Backing up the vanilla maps
First, locate your maps folder under "Steam\steamapps\common\Halo The Master Chief Collection\halo3\maps". Make a backup of all the campaign maps (starting with 005_intro and ending with 130_epilogue) so that you can always revert to the default maps.

Data folder backups
I provide backups for everything in the data folder in the mod download
Installing the mod
This last part is pretty simple, in your "Halo The Master Chief Collection" folder just drag the "halo3" and "data" folder from the mod into your game's folder and replace all of the files.
Intro
Alright I'm mainly releasing this for feedback/playtesting because the MCC doesn't have an easy way to download and play maps. That being said this overhaul has all the changes that came in my campaign overhaul but for all of the multiplayer maps as well as 3 replacement maps for maps that I think aren't fun. This means you'll see new weapons, vehicles, and equipment on all of the maps. While 2 out of the 3 of the replacement maps are just ported h2 maps the last one is a full forge expansion that you might have seen on the nexus.
